2001 Phoenix Deluxe Neoclassical
(Serial No. 262) Near mint condition, medium brown violin varnish sunburst finish. Rolfe Gerhardt has been building mandolins since 1971. He has figured out how to get the sound out of them. This is a two point A style specifically designed & voiced for medium gauge strings. It has a hand-carved red spruce top, flamed solid red maple maple back and sides with a carbon fiber truss rod, carbon fiber/red spruce laminated braces, 1 3/16 inch pearl nut, and a radiused Gabon ebony fretboard with a beautiful pearl vine inlay. The fretboard is scooped and abbreviated to eliminate pick click and to allow you to play in the sweet spot. The bridge has an ancient forest maple base and an ebony top. The peghead has a pearl Phoenix logo, custom plated black and gold Grover tuners, a gold James tailpiece and an inlaid McClung armrest for an elegant appearance. Fitted with a McIntyre Feather soundboard transducer pickup with stereo end pin jack. Just set up by luthier Jerry Ray so it plays very well. Excellent sounding mandolin with strong volume, incredible responsiveness, and a sweet rich tone that will get loud and chop when needed. Comes with the original hardshell case.
