2003 Dave Griffin Three Point Mandolin
(Serial No. 803-19) Excellent condition, reddish sunburst finish. This instrument was built by luthier Dave Griffin in Colorado, who is known for his unusual builds. This is a assymetrical three point A style with a hand-carved red spruce top, figured solid maple maple back and sides, 1 1/8 inch pearl nut, and a radiused and bound ebony fretboard, and a custom made flamed maple pickguard stained to match the top. Look at those cool F holes! The fretboard is abbreviated to eliminate pick click and to allow you to play in the sweet spot. Has an ebony bridge. The peghead has a beautiful and delicate pearl logo and flowerpot peghead inlay on an ebony overlay. Has nickle Schaller tuners. Just set up by luthier Richie Dotson so it plays very well. Here is a short video clip click here of this mandolin played by Richie. Excellent sounding mandolin with strong volume and tone. Good bluegrass chop when needed. Comes with the original hardshell case.
