(Serial #4090) This is an early Gibson A style mandolin with the Orville portrait label inside. It has a natural spruce top now aged to orange and a dark finished birch back and sides. Has an inlaid celluloid pickguard outlined in mother of pearl. Finish and hardware are original including the rare pineapple shape tailpiece cover. The mandolin is playable but the action is somewhat higher than I would like, and there is a ding in the side of the mandolin on the top edge as shown. Still, its all original and very rare. Comes with a newer soft case.
