2009 East Virginia Guitar Co. Orchestra Model (OM) Guitar
(Serial No. 3) Excellent condition, lacquer finish. All original finish and hardware. East Virginia Guitar Co. built some fine guitars for about 5 years in Kilmarnock, VA. The builders were Bill Rupert and Gene Simmons, both of who apprenticed with Jim Merrell. This guitar is a definate nod to vintage Martin Orchestra Model OM-18 construction with a 15 inch lower bout, a 25 1/2 inch scale and a 1 3/4 inch nut. The neck profile is wide and rounded, not a V neck. Its feels a lot like a Taylor neck. It also features Cuban mahogany back and sides, Adirondack red spruce top and advanced scalloped bracing, snakewood binding and heel cap, rope purfling and soundhole rosette, ebony bridge and fretboard with pearl dots, rosewood peghead overlay with pearl logo and flower, nickle openback Grover tuners with metal butterbean buttons and a tortoise pickguard. Some of thier own touches include the notched peghead and the neck profile. The neck set is perfect and the frets were dressed. Some capo wear on the back of the neck was touched up and you cannot feel it. Beautiful fingerstyle guitar but it also responds well to a pick. Clear trebles and a big deep booming bass sound. Here is a video clip of this guitar as played by by Richie Dotson of Acoustic Box LLC in Chesterfield VA. You won't see one of these at your local jam - those that have them won't sell, and there are just not very many of them out there. Comes with a nice hard case.
