(Serial # 98) Mint condition. Ben Wilcox builds a fine mandolin, and this one is exceptional. Traditional F5 body style mandolin with an Englemann spruce top, heavily flamed sugar maple back, sides and neck, fully bound including the neck and peghead, ebony peghead overlay with floral torch inlay in mother of pearl & abalone, ebony bridge, nickle Waverly tuners with pearl buttons and a satin finish silver Bill James tailpiece. Tradition varnish finish in a light sunburst similar to a 1923 Loar. The ebony fingerboard has a 12 inch radius, banjo frets, a round neck profile, a 1 1/8 nut and is shortened to both eliminate pick click and to allow complete acess to the sweet spot for picking. Recently set up professionally for low easy action. Good loud mandolin with a sweet tone and a nice chop and cutting trebles. Very clean near mint condition. No nicks, dings or other issues. Any blemish you see in the pictures is a reflection. This is what you are looking for in a pro level bluegrass mandolin. Comes with a nice hardshell case.
