2011 Bob Altman F5 Mandolin

(Serial No. 9910) Mint condition. Bob Altman is known as a premier builder of top quality bluegrass mandolins, and this is one of his finest builds. It is from his "F5 Loar Series", and this mandolin was ordered with all of the custom upgrades available. It has a beautiful quilted maple back, flamed maple neck, and a red spruce Adirondack top. Has a hand rubbed dark sunburst varnish finish. The instrument is fully bound with tortoise binding. The radiused fretbaard with a 1 1/8 inch bone nut is ebony, and scooped to eliminate pick click. The custom bridge is also ebony. Pearl logo and Fern peghead inlay, satin silver Waverly tuners with ebony buttons, a satin silver plated engraved James tailpiece, Parisian eye endpin, and a custom ebony pickguard complete the package. Here is a short video clip of this instrument played by local mandolin wizard Mark Robertson-Tessi. This is a top quality F5 mandolin. Comes with a Travelite case.
