2013 Rigel G95 Custom Mandolin
(Serial No. 22584) This is a G95 custom build by Rigel. Mint condition, all original finish, hardware and electronics. Has the most amazing sunburst on the front, back and sides of the body. The "rays" are unstained wood and the color is a beautiful teal alternated with green. Rigel mandolins are a bit different from your standard Gibson copy. They feature highly-figured Vermont (rock) maple for the back and sides that is "invisibly" melded to its carved Adirondack red spruce top. The idea is for the mandolin to hacve a seamless reflecting internal surfsace which gives superior sound. Gold-plated Grover tuners and proprietary Rigel tailpiece, with string changes made in a heartbeat, the wedge-chambered body boasts a Loar-style ebony adjustable bridge. Intricately cut with a variety of complex, but strategically placed inner tone chambers, its voice is just that--poignant and complex! This instrument has a custom maple neck with graphite reinforcement and the maple fretboard is radiused with larger fretwire for immediately gratifying access to that sweet spot between the frets. The mandolin was just set up by my luthier Richie Dotson so it plays amazinging wll with a nice low action. Here is a short video clip click here of this mandolin played by Richie. Fitted with an internal piezo pickup with an endpin jack. Comes with the original tweed hardshell case.
