2017 Doug Clark F5 Mandolin
(Serial No. 54) Excellent condition, sunburst lacquer finish. All original finish and hardware. I bought this from a pro player in North Carolina. Doug Clark has been building mandolins in Canton, NC since 1979. This is an excellent bluegrass mandolin, with a hand carved Engleman spruce top, beautifully figured red maple back, sides and neck, tone bar bracing, ebony fretboard and bridge, pearl logo and inlay in the peghead, pearl accent on the heel cap, and relic Golden Age tuners from Stew Mac. The fretboard is deliberately shortened to eliminate pick click. It is new and somewhat green, having been built in June of 2017, but you can already hear the power coming out in the tone of the mandolin. Excellent sounding mandolin with good response all across the strings and up and down the neck. The mandolin was recently set up so it plays like butter and has a strong bluegrass chop. Here is a short video clip of this mandolin being played by Richie Dotson of Acoustic Box LLC here in Chesterfield, VA. Here is another video clip. Comes with a nice shaped hard case.
