1956 Gibson F12 Mandolin
(Serial No. 23106) Excellent structural condition. This guitar has some serious mojo going on. You can see where Excellent condition, original sunburst finish. Completely original. The F12 was intended to be the plainer version of the F5, but it is still the classic Gibson scroll mandolin. It has all the good stuff - long neck, f-holes, elevated fretboard, nicely flamed maple back and sides, solid Sitka spruce top, bound ebony fingerboard, gold hardware, and the pearl Gibson peghead logo and crown inlay. Differences from the F5 include a plainer headstock inlay and binding, no treble fretboard extention, a mahogany neck, and a different tailpiece cover. Shows some expected finish checking and the usual small nicks and dings of mandolin used to make music for 60+ years. Click here for a video clip of this mandolin as played by Nathan Beaumont. This mandolin has opened up nicely, with a great chop and bark. Just set up by my luthier. Comes with the original pink lined hardshell case.
