1958 Martin D28 Guitar
(Serial Number:164233) Excellent condition. This is what a good bluegrass guitar is all about. This D28 has a Sitka spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back and sides, and a dark Brazilian rosewood fretboard. Original finish, factory pick guard, and original bridge/bridge plate. Looks like the bridge was slightly shaved down to lower the action. It worked well, as the action is perfect. Has a new bone saddle. Tuners are original Grover Rotomatics. Has some pickwear on the top, several small scratches and the usual nicks and dings of a guitar used to make music, but overall a fairly clean guitar. Neck is straight and the frets were dressed. The guitar retains the original small maple bridge plate. Made in USA is stamped on the back of the peghead, indicating this was an export guitar, probably to Canada. That would explain the weather checking in the top finish. The guitar has the typical chunky neck that these 50s D28s are known for. It has the powerful sound you only get from a 67 year old rosewood guitar, with beautiful tone and that huge Martin boom on the bottom end. Here is a video clip of this guitar as played by Nathan Beaumont. Comes with the original Lifton hardshell case, very functional and nice inside but has some tape on the outside edges.
