1919 Gibson A2 Mandolin

(Serial # 50209) Excellent minus condition, Sheraton Brown top finish with dark back and sides. Peghead has "The Gibson" logo inlaid in pearl. The fretboard as well as both the top and back of the body are bound in grained celluloid. All hardware and finish is original showing some playing wear, but nothing major. Neck is straight and the frets are in good shape. The pickguard is original but is starting to crystalize. There is some minor top sinkage near the foot of the bass side of the bridge, but it appears stable. There is a well repaired tuners crack on the treble side. All this sounds bad but the mandolin plays and sounds great. Action is low and playable and it has a good ringing sound. Excellent for Celtic or old-time music. Original hardshell case included.
