1936 Gibson L00 Guitar
(Factory Order No. ???5B) Looking for a great playing vintage L00 with excellent tone and an affordable price? Here is it. Excellent condition. Factory order number is mostly illegible but you can make out the letter B as the suffix, which indicates a 1936 manufacture date. I also think this is an early guitar based on the size of the top sunburst and the unbound back. Nice guitar with all original finish showing some repairs. Has a mahogany back and sides and a x-braced spruce top with sunburst finish, firestripe guard that follows the body contour, original ebony 1 3/4 inch nut on the chunky v profile neck, small straight bridge, bound top only, and a silkscreened white script Gibson logo in the peghead. A small plain piece of pearl has been added to the peghead right under the logo - I have no idea why. A long side crack through the endpin and a few back and short side cracks at the waist have been repaired, the bridge and few braces were reglued, the frets were dressed and the guitar was set up by by luthier Richie Dotson here in town. The endpin hole was drilled for a pickup and the endpin has been replaced with an oversize pin that retains the original appearance. The tuners are the original Kluson tuners with white buttons. They work very well. Frets are good and the neck is straight. Big sound. Perfect for ragtime and fingerstyle playing. All these repairs sound bad, but the guitar is solid and in excellent playing condition with a great vintage tone - all it needs is your fingers on the strings! Comes with a newer hardshell case
