1939 Gibson J-35 Guitar
(Factory Order Number EB-6145) Excellent condition, blonde finish. The J-35 was Gibson's answer to the Martin D-18 during the years 1937-1941. The Spann book dates this factory order number to 1939. Has a sloped shoulder dreadnought body with mahogany back and sides, Adirondack spruce top, maple bridge plate, original rosewood bridge and fretboard, and that cool fire stripe guard. Has the unscalloped three tone bar bracing. Original Kluson tuners. Both the tuners and the order number on the back of the peghead identify the guitar as prewar. Has a big neck with a rounded V profile but not as big as a Banner. Nut is 1-3/4 inch. No cracks noted. The top has aged nicely and collected a few light scratches, minor pickwear and moderate checking. No capo marks on the neck and just the slightest sign of divots in the fretboard. Action is fine, the neck has been reset so the set is good, the saddle is tall and the frets are in excellent condition. The tone is warm, woody, and open. Comes with a nice hard shell case.
