1944 Gibson J45 Banner Guitar
(Serial No. none) Excellent minus condition, original sunburst finish showing playing wear. I'm guesssing a bit on the year, but its either a 1944 or a 1945. Original banner peghead wartime Gibson. This is a tremendous guitar - the sound just rolls out of it. The more you dig in, the more the guitar gives back. The sound is very full, rich and well balanced. These are the most sought after of the slope shoulder Gibsons, and for good reason. It just rolls out of the guitar. A lot of players like the big beefy neck in these Banners. Has mahogany back and sides, tapered headstock, single ply binding, and the small pickguard. Excellent playing guitar as the neck was just reset and partially refretted by luthier Harry Eibert. Its an exceptional sounding guitar as well with the powerful yet sweet tone you only get from these early J-45's. Action from the fingerboard is 5/32 on the bass side and 3/32 on the treble, right where it should be. Strap button added at the heel. It is over 60 years old - who knows what stories it could tell. Its just a great old Gibson.
