1949 Gibson J45 Guitar

(Factory Order No. 5440 3) Excellent condition, sunburst finish. If you like the tone of the old Gibsons and need a gig ready guitar, you have found it. This is the classic post war Gibson flat top. Has a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, Kluson tuners, tapered headstock, multi ply top binding, dot fingerboard inlay, lower belly bridge and the small pickguard. This is either a late 1949 or early 1950 based on the features of the guitar. The guitar was completely gone through by noted Nashville luthier John Levan, who reglued a small portion of the back and center seams, replaced the bridgeplate, reglued the bridge, reset the neck and installed an active Baggs Dual Source pickup with endpin jack. There is some pickwear on the top and a well repaired jack hole in the lower side. Guard and bridge are original. No cracks or major structural repairs evident. Tuners are exact replacement Klusons. The guitar was purchased from the local guitar wizard who had all this work done. It plays and sounds like you would expect a guitar used by a professional. Neck set is good, action is comfortable, and the frets are fine. Its an excellent playing and sounding guitar with the sweet tone you only get from these early postwar Gibson slope shoulders. Comes with a newer hardshell case.
