1955 Gibson J-160E Guitar
(Serial No. W1727-29) Excellent condition. This was the model that John Lennon owned and played. It was also used by George Harrison and features on several famous Beatles recordings including Please Please Me, A Hard Days Night and many more throughout the 60s. Has a dark sunburst finish, one P-90 type pickup with endpin jack, laminated spruce top, mahogany back and sides, 20 frets, rosewood fretboard and bridge, pearl logo and fretboard inlays. Early version of this guitar with the adjustable bridge and the larger thumbwheels. Probably had different tuners at one time as the bushings are not correct and it looks like newer Keystone buttons on a set of original Kluson tuners. Strap button added at the top of the heel. Electronics work well and gives a big sound as you would expect. Nice low action, neck is straight, neck set is good and the frets are fine. Has the usual nicks and dings of a guitar used for 50 plus years to make music, but no cracks and no repairs or refinish noted. Comes with somewhat beat original alligator print cardboard case or a newer hard shell case - your choice.
