1955 Martin D28 Guitar
(Serial No. 144623) Excellent condition. This is a powerful bluegrass guitar with all the punch and drive you expect in a older Martin. Finish and hardware are original. Nicely aged spruce top and old growth straight grain Brazilian rosewood back and sides. This guitar was throughly gone though recently by luthier Harry Eibert in NY who reset the neck, dressed the frets, set up the guitar, and repaired the ding in the lower bass side top and the outside pickguard crack on the treble side. Has the standard 1 11/16 inch nut, ebony fingerboard and bridge, rosewood peghead overlay with gold Martin script, and the original waffleback tuners. Plays easy with low action, and has a nice big open woody sound with strong volume. Lots of buckle wear on the back. Has the expected finish checking, pickwear, and the usual nicks and dings of a well loved and much played guitar. Here is a short video clip here of this guitar played by luthier Richie Dotson of Acoustic Box LLC.Comes with an original hardshell case. Warning - this guitar has been known to get out of its case in the middle of the night and go hunting banjos.
