1958 Gibson SJ200 Guitar
(Serial No. A28033) Excellent condition. I'm not usually much for J-200s, but this one really caught my attention - it actually sounds and plays great! Big open sound, very well balanced, without the usual tubbiness of a jumbo or the harshness of most maple guitars. The J-200 is the "King of the Flattops" with a 17 inch lower bout, solid spruce top, curly maple back and sides, original gold Grover tuners, open mustache bridge, engraved floral pickguard, orange oval label, and lots of pearl - the logo, the headstock inlay, and the crown inlays on the fretboard. Finish is original and shows some minor checking and the usual nicks, dings and some pick wear on the top. The engraved pickguard is nice and does not show the wear most of these have. Wonderful round shaped neck with the 1 11/16 inch nut. No repairs or refinish noted. One year older than the guitar Elvis played but it is the exact same specs. Here is a short video clip of this instrument played by luthier Richie Dotson of Acoustic Box LLC in Chesterfield VA. Comes with the original brown/pink lined hard shell case.
