1960 Martin D28 Guitar
(Serial No. 172032) Excellent condition. This is an outstanding bluegrass guitar with all the punch you expect in a older Martin. Nicely aged Sitka spruce top and highly figured Brazilian rosewood back and sides. Bought from the family of the original owner. I was told this guitar and the owner were always right in the middle of the action in Central Park NYC in the 1960s. Every hippie who came to the park would wind up playing this guitar. No cracks or crack repairs - not even a guard crack. Has the standard 1 11/16 inch nut and an ebony fingerboard and bridge. Rosewood peghead overlay with gold Martin script. Plays easy with low action, neck set is fine, frets are good, neck is straight, and has a nice big open woody sound with strong volume. Has the expected finish checking, pickwear, and the usual nicks and dings of a well loved and much played guitar. Finish and hardware are original, including the Pat Pending Grover tuners. Strap button added at the heel. Comes with a green lined original hardshell case.
