1962 Gretsch 6117 Double Anniversary Guitar
(Serial No. 50563) Excellent plus condition. When I first opened the case, I thought this was a reissue - it is that clean. The original hang tags and guarentee in the case. There is NO binding rot, no fretwear, no playing wear, no pitting on the metal, and no repairs of any kind. Its a double-bound single cutaway body with laminated arched maple top, back and sides in sunburst lacquer finish, Gretsch trapeze tailpiece, Gretsch Arrow controls knobs, dual ÒFÓ holes and a gold backed lucite pickguard. It is itted with HiLoTron pickups in the neck and bridge with dual volume controls, a master volume control, 3-way tone switch and 3-way pickup selector switch. It has a two-piece maple neck with bound rosewood fingerboard, pearloid thumbnail inlays, and a 1 11/16 inch nut. Vintage Waverly open-gear tuners, 24.6Ó scale length. The original Space Control Roller Bridge (missing one thumbwheel) is in the case pocket and a Gibson style Tuneamatic bridge has been fitted to give better intonation. My luther who set up the guitar says he doubts the truss rod has ever been tweaked. The guitar has a distinctly vintage sound and feel. The HiLoTron pickups sound beautiful with the hollow maple body and offer a very warm tone in the middle and neck pickup settings. Has the original hardshell case.
