1973 Ferguson Model D Guitar

(Serial #011) Dreadnaught guitar built by the Ren Ferguson Co. in 1973. Ren is known as the luthier who built many of the custom shop Gibson acoustic guitars. This is shown on the label as a Style 450 Model D and serial number 011. It was built by Joseph J Fallman (?-cannot read the last name), built while Ren had his own shop before Gibson. The guitar has solid Brazilian rosewood back and sides and a heavily bearclawed and tight grained spruce top. Tuners are marked Guild but appear original to the guitar. Nut is 1 11/16 inch and the neck is a confortable D profile, sort of a V neck flattened on the bottom. There are several dryness cracks in the back. The original finish has some challenges - it appears to have been absorbed differently depending on the stress of the wood. The guitar plays excellently with a nice low action as the neck was just reset by luthier Jack Dillen in Asheville, NC.
