1987 Red Diamond Electric Mandolin
(Serial No. none) I called Don McRostie (Red Diamond Mandolins) and asked about this one. Don is closely associated with Stewart McDonald in Ohio and this was a Stew Mac kit. Don is not exactly your typical kit builder, however, as he is one of the premier mandolin builders in the US. This mandolin features a hollow body, a rock maple neck with 8 strings, a Lawrence blade pickup, pearl logo, Schaller tuners, a McClung armrest, and of course, a premium top quality lacquer finish. Has a volume and tone control in the top. In my opinion the the 8 strings give more of a mandolin shimmer to the sound over the typical single string electric mandolin. Its just been set up so it plays very easy. No issues I can see with this one. Comes with a nice rectangular hardshell case.
