1995 Phoenix Ultra Two Point Mandolin
(Serial No. 168) Excellent plus condition, medium red brown sunburst finish. Rolfe Gerhart has been building mandolins since 1971. He's figured out how to get the sound out of them. This is a two point A style specifically designed & voiced for medium gauge strings. It has a hand-carved Douglas fir top, flamed solid red maple maple back with carbon fiber truss rod, maple sides and neck, carbon fiber/red spruce laminated braces, 1 3/16 inch pearl nut, and a radiused ebony fingerboard. Gabon ebony was used for the fingerboard and bridge. The stunning peghead inlay of a Phoenix in flight is complemented by the rare rippled green abalone fretboard and body inlays and the body edge binding top and back. Custom plated black and gold tuners and a black chrome plated tail piece and cover complete the elegant appearance. Just set up by luthier Jerry Ray so its plays very well. Excellent sounding mandolin with strong volume, incredible responsiveness, and a sweet rich tone that will get loud and chop when needed. Comes with the original hardshell case.
