2009 Arches F5 Mandolin
(Serial No. F511209006) Excellent condition. Chris Baird built very strong mandolins. Heres hoping that he will recover from his loss and start building these fine instruments again. This mandolin has all the good stuff - flamed maple back and sides, solid spruce top, Body and peghead are fully bound, lacquer finish, engraved James tailpiece, ebony fretboard and new Dotson bridge, and a pearl logo and fretboard dots. Nut is 1 1/8 inch above a slightly radiused fretboard, which is deliberately shortened to eliminate pick click in the sweet spot. Shows very little playing wear. There is a chip out of the lacquer at the tip of the peghead - it was probably leaned up against something. Very good sounding mandolin with excellent response all across the strings and up and down the neck. Just set up by luthier Richie Dotson of Acoustic Box LLC so the mandolin plays like butter and has the signature Gibson chop - excellent bluegrass sound! Here is a short video clip of this instrument played by Richie. Comes with a Travelite case.
