2011 Kentucky KM-5000 Bill Monroe Commemorative Mandolin
(Serial No. prototype) Mint unplayed condition. This is the prototype for the limited edition (now sold out) KM-5000 mandolin honoring Bill Monroe, the father of Bluegrass. It features a Cremona sunburst spirit varnish finish, a solid, hand-carved and graduated select Adirondack spruce top with side bound grained iveroid binding, solid, flat-sawn, hand-carved select flamed maple back & sides from Northern Michigan, a one-piece maple neck with dovetail neck/body joint at the 15th fret, a pearl nut, gold-plated Gotoh tuners with engraved plate and removable pearl buttons, an engraved, gold-plated tailpiece with hand engraved cover, and an ebony bridge and a flat fingerboard with a 1 1/8 inch nut. It has a commemorative peghead design featuring an image of Bill Monroe in pearl with his signature in gold wire. Excellent sounding mandolin with good chop and volume. Comes with a Loar style rectangular case.
