1922 Gibson A3 Mandolin
(Serial Number 69593). Excellent condition, white top finish. Norman Blake has a video out where he uses one. This is one of the last A3 mandolins produced by Gibson - note that the truss rod was installed through the existing A3 peghead inlay. Plays very easy and has strong volume with a very balanced sound - this would be a good session instrument. Excellent for Celtic, jazz, classical, or old-time music. Neck is straight as this is an original truss rod instrument with a German Silver truss rod cover, neck set is good, and the frets are fine. The body finish is original. Very clean mandolin. Although the camera flash shows the top as white, it has aged to a beautiful ivory color. All hardware is original including the hard to find original white pickguard. No repairs noted. Nice low action as the mandolin was just set up. Comes with a nice original hardshell case. Click for pricing and to return to the main page
