1937 Gibson L00 Guitar
(Factory Order illegible) Looking for a great playing vintage L00 with excellent tone and an affordable price? Here is it. Excellent condition. This is called the "tuxedo" model as it was black with a white pickguard. I'm guessing on the year, but the back binding was added in 1938, and 1937 was the last year for the black finish, so this is a pretty good guess. It appears to be all original finish and hardware. Has a mahogany back and sides and a x-braced spruce top with black finish, white pickguard that follows the body contour, original ebony 1 11/16 inch nut on the chunky v profile neck, small straight bridge, bound top only, and a silkscreened white script Gibson logo (probably redone) in the peghead. A few small cracks have been sealed but no major issues noted. The bridge is Brazilian rosewood. A few braces were reglued, the frets were dressed, and the guitar was set up by by luthier Marty Beeson here in town. Nice tall saddle to give good tone with nice low playable action. Here is a video clip of this guitar as played by Nathan Beaumont. The tuners are wartime Klusons with black buttons, so they are a bit newer than the guitar. Black button tuners were primarily used on Kalamazoo guitars, which were also built by Gibson. They work very well. Frets are good and the neck is straight. Replaced end pin. Big sound. Perfect for ragtime and fingerstyle playing. The guitar is solid and in excellent playing condition with a great vintage tone - all it needs is your fingers on the strings! Comes with a newer hardshell case.
