1966 Gibson F5 Mandolin
(Serial No. 856595) One of only 11 F5s built by Gibson in 1966. Original cherryburst finish in lacquer. Has flamed maple back and sides and a Sitka spruce top. Flat ebony fretboard, 1 1/8 inch nut, with pearl block inlay and a newer Dotson ebony adjustable bridge. Triple bound body, fretboard and peghead. Pearl logo and torch in the peghead. Tuners and all other hardware is original. Missing the pickguard and some of the gold is worn off the tailpiece cover. Just set up and frets dressed by my luthier Marty Beeson so it plays very nicely. Sounds good with nice even balance, not real woody but not thin, either.
