1978 Stelling 2 Point Mandolin
(Serial No. 007) Excellent condition with no top sinkage or fretboard hump. Sunburst lacquer finish, modified A shape with double bump shoulders, large f-holes, bound carved spruce top, beautiful figured maple back and sides, gold hardware, bound fretboard and headstock, slotted diamond fretboard inlays, 1-3/16 inch nut width, 14 inch scale. Has a custom build original wooden pickguard. These early Stelling mandolins were hand built by noted luthier Kim Breedlove in California for Stelling. As this was in the first or second batch Breedlove made for Stelling, it stands to reason he would have spent the the extra time on these mandolins to be sure they were built to the highest standard. It has a small screw hole in the back near the button for a strap button I removed, otherwise there are no repairs, refinish, etc. Update - The strap button has been reinstalled. The tailpiece cover shows some wear but it is gold plated and original to the mandolin. Excellent chop and bark - good bluegrass sound. Here is a video clip of this mandolin as played by Nathan Beaumont. Comes with the original rectangular hardshell case.
