1999 Gibson F5L Mandolin
(Serial No. 5997129) Excellent plus condition, traditional dark brown tabacco sunburst finish, completely original. This is the classic Gibson scroll mandolin - long neck, f-holes, elevated fretboard, flamed maple back and sides, solid spruce top, bound ebony fingerboard, and the classic Fern peghead inlay. It has the original gold plated Schaller tuners with pearl buttons. If you look hard enough, you might find a mark or two, as the mandolin was been used in a bluegrass band, but there are no cracks, breaks, refinish, or bad dings. This was probably made in the Bozeman, Montana plant, but it has a Nashville label. It was signed by luthier Charlie Derrington on June 10, 1999. Action is great - easy and low. This mandolin sounds great with a strong chop and bark. Here is a short video clip of this instrument played by Nathan Beaumont. Comes in the original rectangular hardshell case.
