2016 Petersen Bouzouki
(Serial No. 74) This is a Level One bouzouki by W.A. Petersen of Council Bluffs, Iowa. He specialized in Irish style bouzoukis, octave mandolins, citterns, and mandolas. All of his instruments were hand built using solid woods. His production was limited to about 50 instruments a year. Bill completely designed and built every instrument on his own. This bouzouki is tuned GDAE, and is played as an octave mandolin. It can also be tuned GDAD in typical Irish zook tuning. It has solid birdeye maple back and sides, a solid Sitka spruce top, and a mahogany neck. Scale length is 25 1/4 inches, and the nut is 1 5/16 inches. The peghead face is also birdeye maple with an elegant ā€œPā€ inlay in pearl. Fitted with Gotoh closed gear tuning keys. Top bound only with black/white/tortoise binding. The truss rod adjusts inside the soundhole. The fretboard is ebony with pearl dots, and the bridge is rosewood. This is a very well built and resonant instrument. Shows almost no playing wear. Nice hardshell case included.
