2005 Collings MF5 Mandolin
(Serial No. 308) Near mint condition, black top finish with natural finish back and sides. Collings mandolins are made to the same high standard as their guitars. This is the workhorse of Collings F5s - because it sounds great at a reasonable price. Soundwise this one cuts right through - it will run your local banjos out of town. Click here for a video clip of this mandolin as played by Nathan Beaumont of the Remedy Tree Band, Brandon FL. Very powerful mandolin - you will be heard in a jam. Excellent tone with a good woody chop. It has a fully carved Andirondack red spruce top and beautifully quilted one-piece back and nicely flamed sides and neck. Has an 1 1/8 inch nut on the radiused ebony fingerboard, along with the larger frets used by Collings. Ebony bridge. Side bound like Monroes with grained ivoroid binding. Has a pearl Collings peghead logo and inlay and the one-piece Collings tailpiece. Action is low and easy - it plays like silk. Original shaped TKL hardshell case included
