2008 Collings MF Mandolin
(Serial No. 934) Excellent plus/near mint condition, sunburst satin lacquer finish, built in Austin,Texas. Collings mandolins are built to the same high quality standards as their guitars. Plays nice with good low action and sounds pretty good, too. This mandolin has a big, rich voice with great projection and a powerful chop - everything you'd expect from a Collings. Nice clean mandolin with an Adirondack spruce top and heavily flamed Eastern maple back and sides. Gold Gotah original tuners and one-piece Collings tailpiece. Top is bound in tortoise. Has a 1 3/16 inch nut and jumbo frets on the radiused ebony fretboard, which is shortened by Collings to eliminate pick click. Has a soft V profile neck which has the finish removed from the back of the neck. This is called a speed neck, common in the South, where the finish is removed and the neck oiled to allow your hand to slide easily up and down the neck in the hot humid Southern summers. It works well in cooler climates, too. Fitted with the Collings one piece tailpiece. No repairs or other issues noted. Comes with a Collings shaped hardshell case.
