1935 Gibson A0 Mandolin

(FON 785) Excellent condition. Although similar to the earlier A4 model, in the 1930s this was the A0 model. This one has the rare elevated fingerboard, only made for a few years in the 1930's. This was undoubtably a special order. The A0 was the top of the line A style mandolin for Gibson at this time. It has a true red sunburst, flamed maple back and sides, straight pearl logo in the peghead, bound top and back, and unbound peghead and fingerboard as was typical build on 30s era mandiolin instruments. Has the adjustable truss rod in the neck. The finish and hardware are original including the original adjustable bridge. Nice big woody sound from this mandolin with good bass! Neck is straight, neck angle and frets are good. No structural repairs and has a few minor nicks and dings, the usual playing wear, as seen in the pics. Missing the interior label as is common on 30s Gibsons but has the factory order number is stampled on the neck block. Just gone over and set up professionally. Excellent for Celtic or old time, and this mandolin would be superior for classical. Comes with the original hardshell case.
