1946 Gibson J-45 Guitar
(NSN) Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck, spruce top, Brazilian rosewood fretboard, the original small rectangular bridge, original pickguard and tuners. There is no serial number or factory order number, which is not unusual for guitars made immediately after the war. These late 40s J-45s have a very playable neck, much less massive than the Banner headstocks. It has a big, warm sound that will cut through the mix when pushed. The original nut measures 1 11/16" in width and the headstock has the original gold script Gibson logo. The guitar had the wrong tuners at one time but is now fitted with the original Kluson open back tuning machines (with replaced buttons) which still turn smoothly. It also has an original firestripe pickguard. The neck was just reset, the frets dressed and a few braces reglued by luthier Jack Dillen in Ashville. There are a couple of small repaired back cracks and some capo wear on the back of the neck. Has a big powerful open woody sound with strong volume. Comes with a newer hardshell case.
