1947 Martin D18 Guitar

(Serial No. 1000088) Excellent condition. This is what a good bluegrass guitar is all about. 40s D-18s are our favorite guitars on the planet. This one is LOUD and and POWERFUL. Well played old festival warrior D-18 has a Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides and a dark Brazilian rosewood fretboard. Original finish, pick guard, bridge and bridge plate. Has a new bone saddle. Tuners are unusual but are original wartime Klusons. Has some pickwear on the top, several small scratches, nicks and dings but overall a clean guitar. The only repair noted is a 4 inch repaired and cleated back crack. Neck is straight and the frets were dressed. The guitar is taper braced and retains the original tucked bridge plate. Has that typical chunky neck that these 1947 D18s are known for. It has the dry woody sound you only get from a 70+ year old mahogany guitar, with that huge Martin boom on the bottom end. The action is perfect and the sound is jaw dropping. Comes with the original case.
