1953 Gibson J45 Guitar

(Serial No. Y4845) Excellent structural condition, just good condition on the cosmetics. If you are looking for world class sound at a bargain price - if you are looking to make music with a guitar, one you can take anywhere and hang in there on the jam with the best of them but not have to worry about maybe banging a mic stand - this is it. This is one of those guitars you just sit down and start playing...and when you finally remember to look back up at the clock, hours have passed. Its been well-played - lots of pickwear. Here is a link to a video of this guitar as played by luthier Richie Dotson. There is something funky going on with the top finish - I don't think its refinished but its been messed with. It looks good on stage. The bridge has been reglued and it has a few small repaired cracks. All this doesn't matter to the sound or playing- its as comfortable as an old pair of boots and sounds like a million bucks. The sound just rolls out of this guitar. It really nails the slope shoulder Gibson midrangy dreadnaught sound. Sunburst top finish, spruce top, mahogany back and sides, Brazilian rosewood fretboard with dot inlays and original Brazilian bridge with fixed saddle. The Kluson tuners are original and work well. The frets are in excellent shape and the neck is straight. Nice playable action. Comes with a newer hardshell case.
