1961 Gibson Country Western Guitar

(Serial No. 13672) Excellent plus condition. The Country Western is the same model as the Southern Jumbo but with a natural finish top. Otherwise the guitars are identical. Fabulous sounding guitar that really nails the Gibson midrangy slope shoulder dreadnaught sound. Natural top finish, Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides, Brazilian bound rosewood fretboard with double parallelogram inlays and Brazilian bridge, and seven layers of top binding. Still has the tall thin 50s style top and back braces and the wider 1 11/16 inch nut. The Kluson tuners are original. The fretsare in good shape. No repairs other than two very minor back cracks that have been professionally repaired by luthier Dave Sheppard. Very clean guitar showing almost no playing wear. Plays great with a nice low action as the guitar was set up by luthier Jerry Ray here in Richmond. Here is a short video clip here of this guitar played by luthier Richie Dotson of Acoustic Box LLC in Chesterfield, VA. Has a nice big open woody sound with strong volume and good midrange - exactly what you are looking for in a slope shoulder Gibson dread. Comes with a newer hardshell case.
