1970 Guild M20 Guitar

(Serial No. AH2336) Very good plus condition. Made in Hoboken, NJ. After Nick Drake appeared seated with a Guild M20 on the cover of his 1971 album, Bryter Layter, the instrument became closely associated with the singer songwriter and his particular approach to the guitar. This is fine example, a concert size guitar with a x-braced top, back, and sides constructed of solid mahogany. The compact dimensions of the M20s concert body style ensure that it's very comfortable to play and sings with a midrange-focused tone that is marvelous for strumming or fingerstyle playing. With no binding and only the plainest inlay, the M20 has a very austere look but a smooth, expansive sound for an all mahogany guitar. The body is 13 7/8 inches at the lower bout and the nut is 1 11/16 inch. The headstock is faced with the typical Guild plastic overlay, with just a bit of the usual shrinkage. This guitar has some wear overall but is a lovely little guitar with a very responsive sound. There is small top crack on the edge of the treble bout that has been repaired, and the neck was recently reset by luthier Jack Dillen. Here is a video clip of this guitar as played by by James Hurlburt of Plant City, FL. Overall a very good playing and sounding M20. Comes with a cardboard case.
