1993 Gibson F-5 Monroe Varnish Mandolin
(Serial No. 70 of 200) Perfect mint condition. Sunburst varnish finish. This is the classic Gibson scroll mandolin - long neck, f-holes, elevated fingerboard, heavily flamed maple back and sides, solid spruce top, bound ebony fingerboard, silver plated tuners with pearl buttons and silver plated tailpiece/cover, and the classic Gibson torch peghead inlay in pearl. This is one of a limited edition of 200 made to honor the father of bluegrass, Bill Monroe. Made in the Bozeman, Montana plant, and signed by luthier Steve Carlson on February 8, 1993. Has the "Bill Monroe" engraved pearl truss rod cover and Bill's signature on the label. Has almost no playing wear and no nicks or dings. The mandolin has just been set up by my luthier. Action is great - easy and low. This mandolin sounds great with a strong chop and bark. Here is a short clip of this mandolin played by Greg Holder of Dark Corner Bluegrass in NC. Comes with the original Loar replica hardshell case numbered the same as the mandolin
