2000s Tim Davis F5 Mandolin
(Serial No. none) Excellent condition with only a couple of tiny nicks keeping it from new. I bought this one from the original owner. Tim Davis is best known as a custom banjo builder, but his shop did build a few mandolins about the time the "O Brother" movie came out in 2000. All solid woods. This has an Adirondack red spruce top, nicely flamed maple back and sides, mahogany neck, and an ebony fretboard and bridge. Nut is 1 1/8 inch on a flat fretboard with traditional frets. Fitted with Stew Mac Golden Age vintage repro tuners. Action is easy, frets are fine, neck set is good. Good sounding mandolin with a good chop, deep woofy bass and clear trebles. Click here for a video clip of this mandolin as played by Nathan Beaumont of the Remedy Tree Band in Brandon FL. Comes with the original hardshell case, also very clean.
