1910s Kumalae Soprano Ukulele
(no serial no.) Excellent condition. Jonah Kumalae helped bring the ukulele to the masses, producing hundreds of ukuleles a month out of Honolulu by the early 1910s. His ukes won a Gold Medal at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915, as shown on the peghead decal. We believe this instrument is likely from the early 1920s. Very clean uke that looks nearly unplayed, showing almost no signs of use. This is a great sounding instrument with strong tone and fine craftsmanship. It has plenty of power to cut through a jam, and it would record beautifully. This would make a wonderful old time instrument. The ukulele is set up and plays well in all positions with a nice low action. All koa wood body and neck, bridge, and fretboard, a 17 inch scale length, and an original ebony 1 5-16 inch nut. The friction tuners hold tension beautifully. The uke is crack free with no repairs and none needed. Comes with a nice soft case.
